Jesus Trek tour to Israel
April 02 - 12/2024
This is not your ‘ordinary’ tour of Israel. In addition to visiting some of my favourite and most significant places in Israel, we will be fulfilling my long-time dream of taking a 4-day 65-km hike, following the footsteps of Jesus as he walked from Nazareth to Capernaum on the Sea of Galilee. Registration is limited to those who are physically fit for all-day walking, and to make it an intimate mentoring time. You’ll enjoy daily times of worship and prayer at the very places Jesus ministered. Your life will be changed as you experience Him in His land. I invite you to join Jacob and I for this unique trip.

Caesarea | Nazareth |
Good morning, We will start our day with a visit to Dugit Prayer Tower to be officially welcomed to the land and pray for Israel. Dugit ministry is located on the 18th floor of building downtown Tel Aviv. The leader Avi Mazrachi will pray a blessing over our group and will let us know what is happening through their ministry. We will continue our tour driving by the way of the sea - Via Maris (Matt. 4:15) to the historic Caesarea Maritima, the Roman capital of Judea, where Peter followed God’s leading to visit Cornelius (Acts 10) and where he proclaimed the gospel to the Romans. (Acts 24–26). Next, we visit Mount Carmel where the Prophet Elijah confronted the prophets of Baal. Visit Nazareth Village, a hands-on experience that transports guests to life on a Jewish village in the Galilee 2,000 years ago. Check-in to our Golden Crown hotel Nazareth for dinner and overnight. B/D
Fri., Apr. 05: Day “1" – Jesus Trek (18km)
We begin at Mt Precipice (Mount of Leap of the Lord). It is identified as the spot where townspeople attempted to throw Jesus off the cliff (Luke 4: 29-30). From here we can see the City of Nazareth, home of Joseph and Mary (Luke 1: 26-27). From here, the Jezreel Valley appears below; it is named for an ancient city which stood here and means “God sows”. The Bible recounts several battles that took place here, including the Battle of Megiddo. The Bible names the valley as the location where the final “Battle of Armageddon” will take place. Today’s hike ends in the area of Mount Tabor which is the place of the Transfiguration of Jesus. Here, Jesus took Peter, James and John to a high mountain where they were alone (Mark 9: 2-9). Elijah and Moses appeared before them were talking with Jesus.
Dinner and Overnight at the Golden Crown hotel Nazareth B/L/D
Sat., Apr. 06: Day “2" - Jesus Trek (16km)
As we hike today the trail offers so much natural beauty and colorful wildflowers (“lilies of the field”) which are referred to in the Bible (Matthew 6:28; Luke 12:27). The crocus (possibly the “rose of Sharon” mentioned in Song of Songs 2:1) which flowers in the rest of the world in Spring, blooms here in November, after the first rains. Fruit trees include the carob (Luke 15: 16), the olive; and the fig (Mark 13:28. The trail passes the Mount Keshet Oak Tree Preserve. Covering 6000 acres, it protects one of the remaining stands of Mount Tabor oak. Our route crosses an ancient road which may have been used by Jesus. Dinner and overnight at the Ohalo Manor hotel Kinneret. B/L/D
Sun., Apr. 07: Day “3" - Jesus Trek (15 km)
Today’s section of the trail passes cultivated crops and wheat fields associated with new Testament stories of grain picked by Jesus and His Disciples on the Sabbath (Mark 23: 2). We see Mount Arbel with its dramatic cliffs to the east, the Valley of Nahal Arbel below extending eastward to the Sea of Galilee. The trail follows the access road that leads toward the fields of the town of Migdal –the “Magdala” of the New Testament and, by tradition, the home of Mary Magdalene. In 2009, archaeologists uncovered a unique first century synagogue here. Dinner and overnight at the Ohalo Manor hotel Kinneret. B/L/D

Mount of Beatitudes church | The boat on display in its special climatised museum hall | Sea of Galilee |
This morning we will visit the Yigal Alon Center where the “Jesus Boat”, a first-century fishing craft discovered in the lakebed in 1986, is on display. We then continue north into the Tabgha Valley and the Church of the Multiplication of the Loaves and Fishes with its ancient mosaics. This is where Jesus appeared to His Disciples after His Resurrection. We then continue to the Mount of Beatitudes where Jesus preached His famous sermon “The Sermon on the Mount” (Matthew 5- 7). The trail then continues north along a promenade overlooking the shore. Many believe this to be the area where Jesus taught a crowd on the beach aboard a boat (Luke 5:3). The trail leads to our final destination - Capernaum -- Jesus’ city which according to Matthew 9:1, is a rich historical site, considered the “Jerusalem of the Galilee” and is at the peak of the Jesus Trek experience. In Capernaum, Jesus frequented the synagogue (John 6), and he visited peoples’ homes(Matthew 8: 14–15) and healed them, also healed Peter’s Mother-in-law, as well as performing many other miracles in the city (Mark 2:1). The land portion of the Jesus Trek ends here. We will, however, continue by boarding a boat and going out on the Sea of Galilee, Israel’s largest fresh water lake. It was here that Jesus walked on water and calmed the storm. Dinner and overnight at our Galilee accommodation-- at the Ohalo Manor hotel Kinneret . B/L/D

We will also have the opportunity to visit the Dead Sea where we can bathe in the mineral rich water. and to our destination at the lush Ein Gedi “Spring of the Goat”, an oasis on the western shore of the Dead Sea. This is where King David hid from Saul, as a fugitive, and where God defeated the enemies of the Israelites by praise and worship led by King Jehoshaphat. Here we can view the caves from a distance. Church of all Nations | Basilica of the Nativity |
We travel up to Jerusalem where we visit the Davidson Center and view excavations of the Herodian Temple, as it stood prior to the destruction by Roman troops in 70AD. See the Hulda Steps and Gates which used to be the main entrance to the Holy Temple through which Jesus entered. We will also make a visit outside the city to St. Peter in Gallicantu. Jesus spent the night here, known as the home of Caiaphas. There was a deep hole below the house, called the Pit, and Jesus spent the night here while waiting to face His suffering and death. A visit to the upper room and prayer will end this tour of Jerusalem.
“Come to Bethlehem and see . . . “ we travel 5 km south of the holy city, to Bethlehem, where we will visit the ancient Church of the Nativity – one of the first to be built in the land, with its uncontested birthplace of Jesus. Bethlehem is also the home of Israel’s beloved King David. We see also the cave grotto of St Jerome the scholar and translator of the Vulgate Bible. We visit Beit Sahour or Shepherds’ Fields nearby, then on to a well-known olive wood store for shopping . Return back to Jerusalem for dinner and overnight at the Jerusalem Tower hotel. B/D
